A seemingly simple design, the Unalome is complex and layered in its symbolism. Although simple in appearance, the Unalome holds within it the entire philosophy of human existence.
Unalome is the journey of each human being from birth inwards. Struggles are captured by the winding lines of the base of the unalome. The path can be winding or convoluted, but it eventually ends in a straight path, symbolizing mental freedom and enlightenment.
The meanings behind the lotus relates to the symbolism of it growing out of muddy waters. The flowers’ roots anchor it in the mud, but the flower rises above its murky environment, blossoming open one petal at a time.
The crescent on top is symbolic of crescent placed behind the heads of all enlightened beings ..
