Anupam Pal, a 25-year-old renowned artist from Jamshedpur, Jharkhand has reached at self-actualization level while other youngsters at this age are just dreaming what they want to achieve in life. With the magic of his brushstrokes, Anupam Pal has already gained tremendous appreciation at state level & now getting recognition from art lovers all over the world. Today, you will find his paintings in most of the famous art galleries in India, he has got more than 11 awards & recognitions and participated in more than 19 art exhibitions.

“2005 was a turning point in my life, my 1st painting on canvas named Partha Sarathi (Creator of Arjuna), was sold. It was when one of my favorite paintings was sold that I got motivated to take up painting as a profession 2006.”

He did not get this name & fame overnight, his long struggle and dedication made him successful today. Circumstances of living in poverty & protest from family couldn’t stop Anupam from pursuing his dreams. He added, “My father had a small cycle repair shop and my mother was a home maker, so there were a lot of financial problems we faced through. I began to paint using charcoal on the walls due to lack of sufficient money to buy stationary for paintings. I used to bunk lectures to paint.  During exams, I used to participate in painting competitions as art was my first interest & I was ready to compromise anything for it.”

Once he couldn’t perform in studies and his father almost burnt all his paintings to keep him away from his passion. However, Anupam didn’t give up & despite of all hurdles he decided to live with his dreams, he tried hard to convince his parents & slowly his talent gained the appreciation that he really deserved. His father also realized his potential and supported him to realize his dreams post which; he completed a 6-year diploma in Fine Arts from ‘Tagore School of Arts, Jamshedpur’.

Rhythm Divine, Blossoming Mind, Love, Parthasarathi, Conversation etc. are few of the many Anupam Pal’s Paintings that have gained tremendous appreciation from all over the world. His paintings are inspired by Indian culture & traditions. All his paintings follow a unique theme. Subjects in paintings by Anupam Pal do not have eyes. Shedding light on the technique, Anupam Pal says, “eyes are not required to see dreams because people who do not have eyes also dream

Anupam Pal says that his painting skills are gifted & inspired by his maternal grandfather, Shree Bhabesh Chandra Gosh, who was a poet and artist by profession, he used to portray his poems with brushstrokes on canvas. I used to pay my full attention and enjoyed seeing my grandfather paint.

The Artist shares his proud moment when he had a solo exhibition at Jehangir Art Gallery in 2013, Chief guest Mr. Jatindas (one of the most acclaimed artists in India) heaped praises on him and going on to say that, “You are one of the finest artists India could produce.”

Anupam Pal is a true inspiration for every young artist. The dedication and passion he has put in realizing his dreams are enough to inspire the upcoming generation of artists. Anupam Pal believes that struggle is a stage that every artist faces in his life. He further quotes, “For an artist, the best way to answer all criticism is through his brushstrokes on a canvas.” He also has written to Chief Minister of Jharkhand requesting to work towards the development of art in his state.
