DLS Art Gallery showcases artworks on various style & subjects like – Abstract Paintings, Landscape Paintings, Portrait Paintings, Still Life Paintings, Figurative Paintings and Mythological Paintings.
Abstract painting-. A trend in painting and sculpture in the 20th century. Abstract art seeks to break away from traditional representation of physical objects. It explores the relationships of forms and colors, whereas more traditional art represents the world in recognizable images.
Landscape painting - Landscape painting, also known as landscape art, is the depiction in art of landscapes – natural scenery such as mountains, valleys, trees, rivers, and forests, especially where the main subject is a wide view – with its elements arranged into a coherent composition.
Portrait painting - A portrait is a painting is artistic representation of a person, in which the face and its expression is predominant. The intent is to display the likeness, personality, and even the mood of the person. A portrait often shows a person looking directly at the painter in order to most successfully engage the subject with the viewer.
Still Life Paintings -A still life (plural: still lifes) is a work of art depicting mostly inanimate subject matter, typically commonplace objects which are either natural (food, flowers, dead animals, plants, rocks, shells, etc.) or man-made (drinking glasses, books, vases, jewelry, coins, pipes, etc.).
Figurative Paintings -describes artwork (particularly paintings and sculptures) that is clearly derived from real object sources and so is, by definition, representational. The term is often in contrast to abstract art
Since the arrival of abstract art the term figurative has been used to refer to any form of modern art that retains strong references to the real world
Mythological Paintings- Traditionally classified as a form of history painting, mythological pictures are based on themes taken from mythology - that is, from traditional tales invented to explain a particular belief, historical event, or fact of nature. Mythological imagery can also be based on fables or parables, or historical legends. Whatever their origin, these pictures usually involve figure painting and are often executed in a large format.
